rules.

  • You must be 18 years or older to apply. Adult situations may and will occur, so we want to make sure everyone is old enough to handle it. No characters under the age of 17 will be admitted. The PB must also not be younger than 17.

  • The golden rules of RP apply here. No godmodding, no bringing in ooc drama, play nice, don't harass the players or the mods, you'll do just fine.

  • The mods reserve the right to decline an application at any time. We are not elitists, we are not "mean" for the sake of being so. We are however, looking for literate, detailed writers who put effort into their not only their character's conception, but their play as well. We take accepting/denying applications very seriously, and are normally very giving with acceptance. If you find yourself denied, you are more than welcome to talk to the mods about why, as long as it is done respectfully. Trust us, bitching us out about it does nothing for your case.

  • We would like to keep a list [friends locked to the community] of everyone's AIM/Messenger names to make it easier to meet/greet and plot with each other. If you don't want yours public to the other members, make one that you would feel comfortable with others contacting you on.

  • Currently, there is no limit to the amount of characters you can have, but we ask that when starting out, the maximum be four. If you stay active with all of your characters, meaning each of them are in active threads and you play often, you are welcome to apply for more, but we will look heavily into your activity before granting that.

  • We realize that this game is incredibly addicting. But just because you have characters in the game, does not automatically mean your new characters will be accepted. We need to feel that you can stay active, that the characters are well thought out and original, and that the character itself will fit well into the game. Just because you are already in the game, does not mean a half-assed application will suffice for another character. Please put effort into the people you bring here.

    play and activity.

  • Play should be done in third person, storybook format. Journals can be whatever you want, but just keep threadding and AIM logs in third person.

  • Serious storylines that may be offensive or off-putting to others [like kidnapping, rape, drugs, abuse, attempted suicide, pregnancy, etc] are perfectly fine, hey this is a mob-based rpg, things are going to get intense. Just please PM the mods before you decide to go there just so we can be aware of it. Also, make sure to label the thread with a warning.

  • On a similar note, when you choose to go into a storyline that has massive effect on your character, you must stick with it. Your character gets pregnant? Either carry it to term, or if you feel you must, have the character miscarry. Death, obviously your character is dead, we don't have zombies here. You need to not be a total drama-whore when it comes to your characters. Stick out what you commit to. We won't permit serious storylines for those who constantly look for an easy out if things don't turn out the way you want them to.

  • Your character's journal is basically THEIR online journal/blog. There you can have them write their thoughts, feelings, talk about their day, etc. Keep in mind that people can [and will] comment on your entries, so make sure if the thoughts are private, or locked so only a select few people can see it, label it accordingly. However, because of the nature of this game and those in it, it will be assumed that Connelly-faithful journals will be locked to them, the Marino-faithfuls will be also locked among themselves, as well as the same with the FBI-types. Their own hackers and commuter technicians have made it impossible for the other sides to hack, comprende?

  • ACTIVITY: Activity will now only be monitored through actual play. You can update your journals and all, that is fine, but the play is what we really care about. You must be actively in a scene or post a narrative at least ONCE every three weeks. It's not that much, I know we all have real life, but it's very doable. If we see you active, we likely won't question your activity, but if we haven't seen you around and you don't update, you will be dropped.

  • You are more than welcome to thread on AIM or other messaging programs, but when it is done, please post the thread you've done behind a cut and label it accordingly with bolded names or different colors...whatever floats your boat. If the log isn't up, it is assumed it either not finished, or it hasn't happened in the timeline of the game.

  • HIATUS If you must take a hiatus, that is perfectly fine, but you need to comment the mod journal in order to alert us. A hiatus can last NO LONGER than one month, but preferably we'd like to see you back in half that time. Once you return from hiatus, you have one week to update your characters and be active in commenting and scenes. If you do not, you will be warned and up for being removed from the game.

    characters

  • Because this game centers around a community, a lot of people will know each other, and many of them will be involved. Don't be afraid to jump right into storylines. On a similar note, be aware that everything your character does will not effect everyone else. It is okay to have inner drama, and not massive take over drama.

  • Please bring in angst with your character. What this means, is drama does not come in the form of perfect little house, 2.5 kids, the dog, a loving husband, etc. Sure, that's fun for a while, but real life isn't perfect, and these lives certainly are not; play accordingly.

  • If you feel you want to, you CAN kill off your own characters, but not anyone else's unless you've gotten permission from them. Also, make sure to PM the mods regarding it BEFORE the fact, just so we know.

    applying

  • You can request a character's played by to be held at any time, but we will only hold it for a week [unless you are already a member and request a longer hold]. After that, you must apply to maintain your spot.

  • You must make a journal for your character, with their name in it some way, shape or form. You may have other words in it, but no numbers or excessive underscores. Please have a few icons up already (we'd prefer bases like those found at places like stopwars & soconvinced), and put your application [or a variation of it] either in an entry or in your userinfo before you apply.

  • We do not accept challenges on played-bys, but will accept a challenge on a specific role within the game. (Unless of course the spot has a guaranteed hold.) The challenger must wait until the original hold either applies or the hold is dropped/expired to gain acceptance.
