premise.
Boston, MASS. A town known for its great food, great bars, and baseball fans, has a much darker side to it. There is a way this town is run, and it isn't by local merchants or even the government. No, this town runs on an entirely different system. That system is known around town as the Connelly Family. Since the late 1950's, this town has been run by the Irish family, and the chain of command has handed from generation to generation of Irish sons. Most recently, Patrick Connelly has assumed position of head of the family business.
This side of Boston had lived in comfortable fear of the Connelly family for years. Pay your debts on time, don't cause trouble in the wrong parts of town, and you'll be left alone. If you stick your nose where it doesn't belong, you pay the consequences. Members of the police force had learned to look the other way when it came to the crimes of the Connelly family. They participated in the age old 'I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine' mentality. The town lived like that for years, and nobody cared to do anything about it.
That was of course, until the Italians came. The Marino family hailing from New York City, led by Leonardo Marino was equally ruthless and looking to take over the gold mine of business that the Connelly family had cultivated over the last few decades. They moved in with force, but what they didn't count on was the allegiences that had formed in the reign of the Connellys. Blood was shed on both sides, and the Marino family made it undeniably clear they weren't going anywhere. Loyalties began to waver, people began to pick sides, lives were lost, and hatred rose to a boiling point. It was the surge of murders and crime that made the FBI finally step in.
The FBI had long since monitored the dealings going on in Boston, but nothing ever rose high enough to take action until the Marino family stepped in. The FBI became determined to bring down not only the Irish, but the Italian mob family that seemed intent on ripping the city apart. They could trust very few in the police department, for most had been involved with the Connelly family from the beginning. They began to set up camp around the town, infiltrating where they could, opening new businesses and playing along with the facade of the families until they could start demolishing it from the inside out.
Lives were lost on all sides, beginning with the murder of Patrick and Katherine Connellys eldest daughter. Retaliation was inevitable, which manifested almost a year later in the murder of Leonardo Marino, the leader of the Marino family. Both families were shaken to the core, and the Irish decided to move in on the assumed weaker side. Not so, as the ranks of the Italian family were quickly reassembled and determined to remain steadfast in their ways. Everyone, including the FBI has had to step up their game. If there is any chance of keeping the streets of Boston clean of the blood of the innocent. The town has been ripped apart by a war that nobody ever asked for. There is no refuge in the law. There is no safe harbor within the city limits. Everyone, no matter how much they'd like to avoid it, must belong to one side or another.
In the streets of Boston, there is no middle ground.
